Sounds about perfect, except that it is not.

Closing the sale means you have to transfer ownership, and of course the agreed sum of money. This exposes both parties to the risk of fraud.

Fraudsters are lurking everywhere posing as either buyers or sellers. For instance, as an innocent seller, you may transfer ownership to the buyer only for the check to bounce. On the other hand, an innocent buyer can pay for a car, only to later realize it has ownership issues.

Escrow Kenya's vehicle escrow service makes it possible for users to buy/sell vehicles safely even when they are strangers. Through 5 easy steps, you can buy/sell your car to anyone without exposing yourself to the risk of getting conned.

1. Buyer and Seller agree to the terms of the purchase – Discuss the terms of the purchase such as selling price, transfer arrangement, timelines etc. Once you have agreed on them and decided to use our escrow service, either the buyer or the seller can initiate the transaction and invite the other party.
2. Buyer pays Escrow Kenya – The buyer makes the payment to us in the prescribed manner. Once we have received and verified the payment, we then notify the seller and advise him to initiate the transfer process in accordance with the agreed terms. We hold the funds "In Escrow" in the meantime.
3. Seller ships/transfers the vehicle ownership to Buyer – this should take anywhere from one to three days depending on whether it is a weekend or public holiday.
4. Buyer receives and accepts the vehicle – having transferred the car ownership; the buyer receives it and notifies Escrow Kenya.
5. Escrow Kenya pays the Seller – this is the last part, the funds are released from escrow to the seller, concluding the transaction.
